Alison Pill was born in Scarborough, Ontario. Her parents, John Pill and Ellen Page, raised her two younger siblings along with her grandparents. She was a year older when her family immigrated to Canada from England. Her two brothers grew up in Oakville, while her sister went to high school in London.

Alison Pill grew up in a family that encouraged her creativity. She enjoyed playing the lead role in several plays, including one in London called “The Mysterious Woman.” After high school, she pursued her acting career in television, playing different characters and ultimately becoming known as one of Canada’s most popular child actors. In addition to being nominated for a Satellite Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, she was also nominated for Golden Globe Awards for her performances in both “Dawson’s Creek” and “Revenge of the Nerds.”
In fall of 2021, Alison Pill will again be up for an award at the Satellite Awards. This time, it will be her second Globe nomination. However, her first Globe nomination came way back when she was nominated for an Order of Canada for Outstanding Achievement in Music, in 2021. Her second nomination will be for an Independent Spirit Award. This is a smaller honor than the Globe Awards is; however, it is still quite a prestigious honor.
In addition to her role as Alison Pill in the movie “Songs,” Pill also appeared in the short film “A Quiet Place.” The movie won four awards at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival. Prior to that, she was in the independent feature film “Old Dogs,” also screened at the Toronto Film Festival. Alison Pill has also been nominated for an EICM award for Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Drama, for her role as Shauna deletion in the movie “Old Dogs.”
This is just the beginning for Pill. She has appeared in numerous movies including the Will Ferrell comedy “The Campaign,” as well as the Will Ferrell film” Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.” She is set to star alongside Dabney Coleman in the upcoming “The Campaign” film.
Aside from her role in the movies, the Pill has also established herself as a singer-dancer-comedy artist. She has been known for her short-lived stint in nightclubs such as “The Night Lamp” in Las Vegas and “Hollywood Shutters” in New York City. Her first full-length musical attempt was in 2021 with the release of her self-titled album called “Alison Pill.” Her music has also appeared on the soundtracks of several movies and television shows including “E.T.” Pill also has a popular voice-overs gig on commercials for things like mattresses and soft drinks. Her credits also include commercials for Honda and J.J. Lites.
