Betty Zhou is a Chinese actress, singer, screenwriter and host. She currently hosts her own program on CCTV China. Born in 1978, she is originally from Hong Kong. As an actress, Betty Zhou has appeared in more than thirty films. The films that she appeared in are: Crazy Heart, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Flower in the Garden, etc.
Betty Zhou was also a popular TV personality in the late sixties and seventies, hosting her own program called “Betty Zhou Live.” It featured music videos, interviews with famous Chinese and Hollywood personalities, among others. At the time, this was the first time that a Chinese American had been able to reach the heights of stardom in the United States, as seen by many famous Chinese Americans. She was also one of the few women to be personally invited by the Chinese President to attend his official birthday party in the White House.
Betty Zhou later went onto to host her own talk show for CCTV, “Betty Zhou Live.” This was an incredible achievement for an Asian American woman. Through this show, she became known as a strong champion of gay rights and became an icon among the gay community in the United States. She was also an advocate for animal rights and hosted a popular animal shelter. She is also known for being a strong environmentalist and became an outspoken critic of China’s destructive efforts in the environmentally vulnerable regions of the world.

Recently, Betty Zhou has been busy promoting her first novel. She has written and produced several successful plays in Hollywood, such as “The Box Office,” and “Man on the Moon.” She has also written several non-fiction books, most notably “Beirut: A Port of Call,” a travel guide to the region of China that includes its cities, people, culture, and history.
In addition to being an accomplished actress and presenter, Betty Zhou has also established her own acting career. Her credits include appearances on several award-winning shows, including “ER.” Additionally, she has not been previously engaged, and does not currently have any children.
Recently, Betty Zhou was featured in the Chinese film “Mu Lan” which is set in modern day China. Her co-stars are Huang Xiaoming, who played the main role of an evil emperor, and Jackie Chan whom we know as the fighter pilot in the Bruce Lee series of movies. This film reunites Betty Zhou with her former “American Idol” partner Huang Xiaoming. The pair previously worked together on the popular Chinese crime series, “Lion King.”
