Dilraba Dilmurat studied at the Beijing University of Foreign Languages and studied Japanese before pursuing a career in acting. She first appeared in the Japanese film The Last samurai, which was set in Japan during the Edo period. After that film, Dilraba Dilmurat went on to appear in the Hong Kong film The Mummy, The Samurai, and The Forbidden Planet. Dilraba Dilmurat has also gone on to appear in the Korean film Yeong-joo, as well as the television drama Chung-hee: No Holds Barred, in which she played the role of Chun Doo.
Dilraba Dilmurat moved onto Hollywood, where she appeared in such films as Kung Fu, Romance ofsticks, Romance of the Three Pillows, The Damned City, Pretty Woman, and Eternal Love. After that she appeared in a number of Chinese language movies, including You Are Entertained, Beowulf, and Shanghai Noir.
