Eid Al Adha 2023 is the name of a special festival, which usually falls on the third month of the Islamic calendar, and is celebrated with the grand celebration Eid. This date is very important for Muslims all over the world and marks the end of Ramadan – a series of spiritual rituals marking the end of Ramadan and the commencement of the holy fasting. During the Al-Adha feast, Muslims all over the world fast from dawn to sunset so that they can offer their thanks to the merciful Allah. The day ends with a grand celebration in the mosques and community centres, and Eid Al Adha balloons are used in order to bid farewell to darkness. While the traditional food items are eaten, there are other foods that are more popular during the celebration like meat and dairy products. Ceremonies, prayers, poetry reading and music are also observed during the day so that the memories of the Eid Al Adha will last for years to come.
The celebrant is usually a relative or a close friend of the deceased. They will either call in by phone or meet at a public place where a minibus or car will pick them up. Usually a taxi will be waiting outside in order to take the celebrant to the Eid Al Adha celebration. After Eid Al Adha is over, the celebrant will return to his or her home. A number of hotels and other establishments around the city remain open until late, so that people can attend the Eid Al Adha celebrations without having to worry about transportation. Restaurants and cafes in the areas close to the Eid Al Adha celebrations remain open as well so that people can have dinner outside and enjoy watching the fireworks display.
On Eid Al Adha, Muslims around the world to give thanks to Allah for His patience, help and support as they follow the path of Ramadan. The celebrant’s family then gives him or her a good luck present like a new dress or new furniture, ornaments and jewelry. The gifts are usually exchanged between the family or the friends of the celebrant, usually during the day of Eid Al Adha or on the same day as the festival. Gifts may also be exchanged between the guests of the celebrant’s house and the guests of the Eid Al Adha in order to bid them adieu.
