Farida Pasha is a popular Indonesian singer, actress, and dancer. She is best known for her role as Jasmine in the movie adaptation of Aladdin. She has also appeared in other movies such as The Way of My Love, Tokyo Girls, and Tokyo Rocker. Farida Pasha became a household name with her performance in the film’s Kung Mangarap, Abrasive Mind, Jokerman, Brides of Blood, Hard to Be Kind, and Chinatown. Farida Pasha is actually from Indonesia and was born in Ngurah Rai, East Java. Her full name is Farida Tahir 26 1952. Farida Pasha went to live in Australia at the age of eleven and was immediately homesick.

When she returned to her home country, Farida Pasha became a superstar and was a popular national treasure in Indonesia. In her early years, Farida Pasha had a hard time adjusting to her Western style attire. As time passed she became more comfortable with her Western style clothing and fashion accessories. After her marriage to an American citizen, Farida Pasha adopted her first child, a daughter named Ayung, whom she had married while staying in Bali. Farshida and her husband later adopted three more children, all of whom she kept long after her husband became a US citizen. During the late sixties, Farida Pasha’s career blossomed when she was cast in many movies and TV series in both Australia and USA.

Farida Pasha always maintained her relationship with her birth country and her adopted homeland. Consequently, her adopted daughter Aktris became very upset upon learning that her mother had been born in Australia. Although she had been told since childhood that her real home was Indonesia, she insisted on seeing her family members and her adopted son in Bali.

Farida Pasha retired to Bali to live the rest of her life. On her death bed, she requested that her body be buried in Bali’s Mount Agung burial ground. Her request was granted and she was buried alongside her two other sisters in November 1969. It is believed that Farida Pasha may have been among the first Indonesian ladies to be interred in this sacred place.

Farida Pasha lived a fascinating life. She was a strong character who chose to accept her true gender at an early age and whose courage and determination to continue with her Islamic way of life would earn her the respect and admiration of many around the world. She shared with many of us the joy of introducing her son to the world. She was a strong woman who held her integrity strong despite being the product of a multicultural society. In all these aspects, Farida Pasha has left a legacy for all of us to discover. Farida Pasha is listed in the Film and Television Hall of Fame and was awarded the Order of the Foreign Legion.
