When I was growing up in Anguilla, Mother’s Day was very special for my family. Every May, my mom would be given a large pink plastic flower bouquet by our church group, and we would proudly drag her out to the middle of the park where we were all sitting out to play. It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed in my life, but it was also a very emotional time for my mom because she would always be the center of attention. That day was always special for us, and we enjoyed spending the whole day together.
After High School, I went to college, and I loved studying in the library. In the school library, there were always books placed all over the place, some on my mother’s favorite subjects, and some from other fields. One day, I took a book from the library and put it in my purse. While walking to class one morning, I came upon an old book that had a special appeal to me. It was written by my great-grandmother, and it contained a poem about Mother’s Day.

As I thought about it, I realized that it was a special kind of book. It was more in-tune with my mom’s personality than any other book that I had ever bought before. As I began reading the poem, I began to understand what my mother’s day celebrations were all about. It was all about love and caring.
