The Harvest Moon Festival, also known as Chuseok (meaning’Harvest Moon Festival’) is one of the most popular holidays in Korea. In fact, it is one of the most celebrated events in Korea. It is celebrated across the country on the date of the full moon of October. During this festival, people all over Korea to celebrate the return of their crops from growing. This celebration of growing crops marks the start of a five-day festival that ends on the day of Halloween.

The next Friday, a group of mourners gathered at the seashore and lit lanterns to chase away the darkness. The story further says that the husband of Friday was delighted to see his wife again and had the children (including a son) take care of her on the day of Harvest Moon. He then went back to the cave where his wife had been staying and cooked some ginseng which allowed her to become well. At the Full Moon party, Friday was said to have gained 3 places for the first time in her life. The story further states that Friday became a very good cook and this caused her to become a very popular food among people in Korea.
Traditionally, on September day, a group of musicians will gather at the seashore and play songs all night long. This is a major event in Korea, where the whole family gathers together and has a lot of fun. Harvest Moon Festival is also a time when new rice is collected to be given away as gifts to the people. The celebration ends with a grand feast during which the best foods of the season are served to guests.
