Joanna Krupa was born in Peru. Her family is originally from Peru, her father worked as a translator for the British and his family moved to Britain. Joanna attended the British School of Photography at Durham University. After graduating she traveled the world, first to Paris, then to Rome, then to Africa, and finally to New Zealand.
Joanna began photography as a hobby when still a student and this led to her becoming an expert portrait photographer. Joanna has been married twice, first to Martin Sage who was a director, producer and director of photography for the film’s Scarface and The Firm, and later to Peter Jackson who produced King Kong: The Movie. She currently lives in Italy. Her first few years were hard because her husband wanted to take her to Africa, but Joanna had already travelled to many countries so she fit in well in Europe. She has always remained very positive and diligent about her business and personal life. Joanna Krupa’s most recent project was the film The Trader, which was released in the United Kingdom and throughout the world.
Joanna started out her career as a commercial and advertising photographer by taking pictures of the rural poor in Peru. One of her most impressive photographs was entitled Notes Of Paradise. This picture showed the landscape of a small village located in the mountains of Huancayo, Peru. Joanna took the pictures in the year 2021. Notes Of Paradise became one of the most well-known images of the late twentieth century. Joanna was also the official photographer of the adaptation of King Kong into a motion picture.
In her most recent assignment she was tasked to shoot footage for the movie King Kong. This film was one of the biggest financial failures of all time and eventually lost more than four billion dollars. A big part of the loss was due to the poor quality of the film shots and Joanna was also not paid her customary fee for a job well done. Though it seemed like King Kong was a flop, Joanna continued to work on the project, eventually producing one of the better films of the current era that was released in 2021.
Joanna Krupa is now an established and well known photographer in her own right. Her photography has been displayed numerous times both in and outside of the United States. Her photographs have won awards from the Society of Motion Picture Photographers, the American Society of Cinematographers and the National Association of Film Commissioners. Joanna has also received many awards and certifications for her photography from associations such as the Royal Photographic Society of London, the World Media Awards and the Kodak Student Award. Joanna’s credits also include assignments for commercials and music videos. Her credits as a commercial photographer are extensive and she has been able to successfully complete projects for clients ranging from Disney to Levi’s.
