She first appeared in her first play in four month in an amateur theatre in Kollam, Kerala. She was awarded the first diploma of the year by the university in that town. Later she went on to win the first prize for best actress in the first South Indian movie “Chinn.” She continued to work on her craft in various theaters in Kerala and went on to act in a number of movies and showrooms in India and abroad.

Nikhila Vimal quickly became popular in Tamil Cinema after her first few appearances in Hindi movies.
