The second official United States government recognized moment of remembrance, officially designated as Patriot Day, is the twenty-second anniversary of the deadliest single terrorist attack on American soil – the hijacked aircraft flown into an office building in Manhattan. That terrible day changed forever the way Americans perceived their country. Although no member of the hijackers was ever found, they were blamed and held responsible for the act. The symbolism of that day has stayed with Americans ever since. Today we observe Patriot Day with much gratitude and appreciation.

Many different laws surround the celebration of National Days of Prayer, but none are as symbolic or important as that of September 11th. George W. bush proclaimed September 11th every year as National Days of Prayer and never retracted it. We, in the United States, have not seen a president declares a national day of Prayer since nineteen-eleven. Despite our best wishes and prayers, the twin towers of the World Trade Center collapsed in New York City on behalf of those who were practicing and learning the correct way of living. Since then, many Americans have taken up their pens and have put pen to paper to remember those who lost their lives that day.
