Shabnur is an accomplished actress in her native Bangladesh. She has portrayed women in a number of films and acted in more than one; she has acted in dozens of TV serials and also in a movie in China that was never made. Shabnur was married to Mirza Ghalib (from whom she has three children) and has also acted in a few Indian movies. She went to study acting in London and earned a degree in Acting at the British School of Theatre. Shabnur is an accomplished and popular actress in Bangladesh who enjoys a high degree of popularity in the country and her acting ability is admired and adored by people from all over the world.

Shabnur was born as Shabnam Safi Darwaja in Dirang Thulashingdi, a small town in rural Shahjehanabad. Shabnur was a very shy and modest child who used to hide her face when in public. She began appearing in television and theatre during the early years of freedom that followed the end of Bangladesh’s war of independence in 1971. After that, Shabnur slowly emerged as one of the best known and attractive actresses in Bangladesh.

Shabnur was most popular among the masses in Bangladesh when she appeared in a major national hit comedy titled “Badrin”, which revolved around a fictional story about a small and inferior Bangladeshi lady who comes to New Delhi to work in the prestigious Fashion Institute. Shabnur’s presence at the institute and her performance in the comedy helped her to gain attention and appreciation from Indian and abroad viewers. She later went on to join hands with S.S. Rajamouli in an animated science-fiction movie called “Zhibo”. Shabnur later appeared in a series of videos and films directed by Kamal Amrohi.

Shabnur has gone on to have a number of notable and award winning films in both India and abroad. Her acting prowess saw her featured in a number of high profile movies in India, including “Chak De! India” and “Naan”, as well as making a number of screenplays and teleplays in the US, Canada, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom.

Shabnur said in her interview with IHTV TV that the reason for her appearing in all those movies is because she felt that it was her duty to take up her duties as an actress and fulfill her duties as a wife and mother to her husband. Shabnur added that she was also very happy to be able to do something for the society. She was also excited at the prospect of becoming actresses and playing an important role in helping women realize their dreams. Shabnur was quoted in an IHTV interview as saying that her latest Hindi movie “Bindu” (which is scheduled for release in March) was inspired by a particular incident in her life that she had wanted to share with the world.

Shabnur was one of the many female actors who won a number of Filmfare Awards during the late 90s. The list of notable female Bollywood actresses that Shabnur has been associated with spans the course of her career right up to present day. Shabnur is currently reprising her role as Shabla in the movie “Kurban”, a lead role which was played by Mukesh Bhatt earlier in the 90s.
